Antique linen sheet, origin: French

Antique linen sheet, origin: French

A very good example of a 19th c. sheet, this one is loomed of a heavy-weight but fine white linen with two large fancy monograms M and V in plumetis embroidery, one letter in each corner of the sheet in high relief. A centrally serged "invisible" seam, typical of these older linens, indicates that it was woven on looms too small to accomodate the size of a large bed and thus the two pieces were joined afterwards. Hand-hemmed. Mid-19th c. Dimensions: 126 x 81in.
