A perfectly preserved antique this magnificent sheet is in its orginal and beautiful state! Faint traces of the embroideress' blue chalk are still visible where she marked the letters to be stitched. Loomed of a very tightly woven, superb quality, fine but weighty ecru linen it has a splendid central monogram YC embroidered in a high relief of bourdon with miniscule post points embroidered leaves. The entire return as well as 27 inches of its height is magnificently embroidered with sprays of flowers and bows in Richelieu, English cutwork, bourdon, and tige point, all of which is framed by multiple rows of very fine drawn thread work. This work of art was undoubtedly created for a trousseau but never used! Hand-hemmed. Likely dating from the late 19th - early 20th century this sheet is in impeccable, as-new condition. Dimensions: 126 x 91in.
