A refined and exquisitely beautiful creation this sheet is a rarity in that it was loomed of some of the finest egg-shell white linen baptiste. The fabric is soft, slightly translucent and light as a feather without being at all fragile. This wonderful sheet has a very large central monogram, "PD," measuring 6 x 11.5 inches and embellished with beautifully embroidered flowers that trail down below each letter. The embroidery, in bourdon, tige and post point, is masterfully executed with an important relief and is just lovely to behold. A large crossed drawn thread row of embroidery, measuring a full inch in height, runs along the entire return border. Hand-hemmed. This sheet is in immaculate condition save for two miniscule repairs (expertly done by a professional lace-maker) and each the size of the head of a pin. These are both located at the very foot of the sheet, about 8 or 9 inches from the hem, and honestly are so perfectly clean and small that not only are they practically invisible but I'm almost tempted to say that they add as opposed to detract from the value of the sheet! Late 19th to early 20th c. Dimensions: 107 x 92.5in.
