A splendour of flowers, this absolutely stunning antique banquet table service is rare for its combination of beauty, superlative quality and perfect mint condition! This elegant service is comprised of a grand tablecloth and 18 very large napkins all loomed of a superb grade of pure white linen damask. The damask is of medium weight, slightly slubby, crisp yet silk-like in appearance with a subtle sheen. The tablecloth features a floral motif with a frieze of full, open roses that create a lush interior border, as well as a second larger and very sensual frieze of very large roses, some open and others about to bloom, all of which intertwine to create an exterior border and frame. The center of the tablecloth is decorated with medallions of roses, two of which at the center encircle beautifully embroidered monograms, "BB," perfectly executed in bourdon and post point and adorned with sprigs of flowers. The 18 napkins that accompany the tablecloth have the identical central monogram within a floral medallion, equally superb damask but with a motif of large, open hibiscus flowers. For those who enjoy historical details, the monogram stands for the family names "Batistine Boulard." This service likely dates from the very early part of the 20th century, is entirely hemmed by hand and, as stated, is in remarkably excellent condition. Truly a treasure which will grace any table! Dimensions: tablecloth 153.5 x 70in., napkins 32.5 x 27.5in., monograms 4.25 x 3.25in.
