A stunning, bountiful and very unusual service of 18 very large napkins loomed of a superb quality of pure white and very silken linen damask. The creatures of the fable of La Fontaine, "The Fox and the Stork," are featured in the center of the motif of this important service, and are surrounded by multiple, very ornate wreaths of flowers - typical of the lyrical motifs of the early art deco period of 1900 - 1920. An embroidered monogram, "JC," is executed in an important relief of bourdon in the center of each napkin. This service is in impeccable condition save for a single flaw in the weave of one napkin which measures about 3/4 of an inch and is located in the middle of one of the surrounding border wreaths.
