A truly magnificent sheet and single pillow sham ensemble loomed of a beautifully supple and tightly loomed ecru "fil de lin" linen. This splendid set is monogrammed "JL" in an important relief and meticulous execution of bourdon, tige and post point, the letters adorned with fanciful sprays of lily of the valley. The lily of the valley motif is repeated in an elaborate, hand-embroidered scalloped edge which runs the full length as well as 39 inches of the height of the sheet return as well as the entire border of the sham. This set was purchased among other linens of the same estate and all of these were of exceptional quality and style - certainly coming from a prominent family. Likely dating from the early 20th century, this beautiful set is in perfect condition. There is only the very faintest, almost undetectable shadow of a storage mark on the sheet which remained afer laundering and which will certainly come completely clean after another wash or two.
