A treasure of embroidery this splendid sheet, typical of linens dating from the turn of the 20th century, is loomed of a weighty and tightly woven ecru "fil de lin" linen. A majestic monogram, "AB," expertly embroidered in an important relief of bourdon and post point occupies the center of the return and sits atop an expansive spray of equally beautifully embroidered flowers. A lacy crossed drawn thread row of embroidery underscores the central motif and runs the length of the return. This lovely piece was found in new condition despite its age and was washed in my care for the first time just to freshen it up and remove the storage marks that formed along its folds. A few faint traces of these marks remain toward the foot of the sheet and will come completely clean in the next laundering or two. Hand hemmed with miniscule stitches. Impeccable condition.
